About the Artist

Phoenix, by Priya Sirohi

Priya Sirohi explores fluid art forms as well as adaptive henna patterns to tell the stories of changing geometries that resist defined structure. Acrylic pour art, as featured on the cover of this volume, is produced by treating acrylic paints with paint thinner, water, and oil, and then poured on canvas in layers to generate kinetic cell patterns as the water resists mixing with the oil. Her work draws heavily from South Asian textile culture for both design and color palettes, especially the high-contrast jewel tones and intricate line art found across the region. She lives in the woods of upstate New York.
