Dear Reader,
While the world continues to be rocked with chaos, uncertainty, violence, and fear, we have been struck by the power of words to help us find a way through.
In reading for this issue, we found ourselves steeped in stories of isolation, each wildly different from the last, each with its own sense of awareness, each taking different leaps and risks. We came through this process with a stronger recognition of the wide and lasting impact this time has had on how we read, how we write, and how we live.
The final mosaic of Issue V explores some of the many kinds of tension and change we’re going through, individually and together. The words and stories of this issue shine with brilliance and surprise. These are pieces we wanted to go back and read again and again, voices we wanted to carry with us, glimpses of the dark and broken, the light and resonant.
We were changed by this work, grateful to be shown and reminded just why it matters.
